2016

 

Activities established for the stage of 2016 have been accomplished as described below:

 

1. Synthesis and characterization of iron-immobilized AC composites (Related activities were conducted during 2015 and 2016 stages)

1.1. Fe impregnation of AC via permanganate oxidation

1.2. Preparation of Fe-doped TiO2 coated AC

1.3. Influence of various synthesis conditions on the properties of Fe-immobilized ACs

1.4. IR, TGA and XPS investigation of raw and Fenton ACs.

1.5. Determination of textural and chemical properties of raw and Fenton ACs; N2 adsorption-desorption isotherm, Hg porosimetry, pHPZC determination and Boehm titration.

1.6. Preparation of the promising composites in the amounts needed for further investigations.

 

2. Selection of the most appropriate iron-immobilized AC for optimizing of the coupling treatment system (Related activities were conducted during 2015 and 2016 stages)

2.1. Adsorption properties of raw and Fenton ACs in terms of MPs removal, leakage of impregnated Fe, material attrition.

2.2 Performance of Fenton ACs in the coupling treatment system towards MPs removal in batch regime.

 

3. Study of potential synergistic effects of coupling the considered processes:

3.1. Comparative kinetic studies of the coupling and component AOPs.

3.2. Study of intermediary compounds of the considered micropollutants degradation (research mobility – Universite d’Orleans, France, April-July 2016).

 

4. Synthesis, characterization and testing of Fenton aerogels

4.1. Preliminary experimental studies for graphene oxide preparation through a modified Hummers method, and for obtaining the carbon aerogel and Titania-doped graphene silica aerogel particles with the aimed pore size.
