Antonio Marzocchella is currently professor at Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, Faculty of Biotechnological Sciences. He is a specialist in production of biofuels by biotechnological routes. With his group, he develops butanol production by means of Clostridia and bio-oil extraction from microalgae cultivated in photobioreactors.
Results of the scientific activity are reported in over 130 contributions, including peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, patents and book chapters.
Research Interests:
• production of biofuels by biotechnological routes
• development of biofilm reactors the activity regards the relevance and characterization of the combined effects of bioconversion process, transport phenomena and hydrodynamics.
• bioconversion by means of Pseudomonas sp. OX1 free and/or immobilized under aerobic/anaerobic conditions.
• bioadsoption of organic dyes
• biofixation of carbon dioxide.
• hydrodynamics of gas-solids, gas-liquid and gas-liquid-solids systems.
